Progress in silicon-based quantum computing.

چکیده
We review progress at the Australian Centre for Quantum Computer Technology towards the fabrication and demonstration of spin qubits and charge qubits based on phosphorus donor atoms embedded in intrinsic silicon. Fabrication is being pursued via two complementary pathways: a 'top-down' approach for near-term production of few-qubit demonstration devices and a 'bottom-up' approach for large-scale qubit arrays with sub-nanometre precision. The 'top-down' approach employs a low-energy (keV) ion beam to implant the phosphorus atoms. Single-atom control during implantation is achieved by monitoring on-chip detector electrodes, integrated within the device structure. In contrast, the 'bottom-up' approach uses scanning tunnelling microscope lithography and epitaxial silicon overgrowth to construct devices at an atomic scale. In both cases, surface electrodes control the qubit using voltage pulses, and dual single-electron transistors operating near the quantum limit provide fast read-out with spurious-signal rejection.

One of the solutions for organizations to succeed in highly competitive markets is to move toward emerging sciences. These areas provide many opportunities, but, if organizations do not meet requirements of emerging sciences, they may fail and eventually, may enter a crisis. In this matter, one of the important requirements is to develop suitable roadmaps in variety fields such as strategic, ca...
متن کاملSilicon Metal-oxide-semiconductor Quantum Dots for Single-electron Pumping
As mass-produced silicon transistors have reached the nano-scale, their behavior and performances are increasingly affected, and often deteriorated, by quantum mechanical effects such as tunneling through single dopants, scattering via interface defects, and discrete trap charge states. However, progress in silicon technology has shown that these phenomena can be harnessed and exploited for a n...
متن کاملThe Silicon Transistor: Personal Observations
25 Is the decades-long era of exponentially compounding improvements in the cost and performance of computing devices about to end? Can we sustain progress in information technology hardware by developing some new switching device that can be made smaller, faster, and cheaper than the silicon transistor? These were some of the questions raised by a panel session, “Looking Beyond Moore’s Law, A ...

In this article, the design and modeling details of room-temperature analog-to-digital converter (ADC) based on silicon quantum-dot (QD) single-electron transistors (SETs) is presented. In contrast to the conventional metal quantum dots, the use of silicon QDs in the scales of few nano-meters enhances the device operation and makes stable the Coulomb blockade and Coulomb oscillation regimes at ...

Man has always been discovering and inventing things to make many of his tasks in life simpler. Computation is one such task that the human race has actively pursued over the past few years to solve many problems that occur in real life. Over the past few decades there has been a phenomenal progress in the power of computational devices using silicon based integrated circuits. This extraordinar...
متن کاملA novel vedic divider based crypto-hardware for nanocomputing paradigm: An extended perspective
Restoring and non-restoring divider has become widely applicability in the era of digital computing application due to its computation speed. In this paper, we have proposed the design of divider of different architecture for the computation of Vedic sutra based. The design of divider in the Vedic mode results in high computation throughput due to its replica architecture, where latency is mini...
